OSTARA

BLOOD RITES COMMUNITY CELEBRATION

Warmly inviting you to join us for our Blood Rites Community Celebration.

Sunday 6th April 2025

2pm-4pm

Chyan Community Field

Please come and park in the Chyan Car Park – the Wellbeing Fayre will be on so the carpark will be busy – but our celebration is being held on the Community Field so we won’t be in the throngs of the Wellbeing Fayre (although of course you may want to attend the Wellbeing Fayre before or after).

We will be meeting in The Dome if it is raining or just out on the Community Field if it’s not.

You can ask at the car park if you aren’t sure where that is.

You are welcomed to meet with us even if you don’t want to be celebrated – you can just witness with the men and the children.

We will be holding a sacred ceremony of celebration for adult women and young people who have bled at some point in their lives – honouring you and your blood.

There will be singing, drumming, talking, creating, celebrating, gifts, blood pouring and cake.

We invite you to bring some blood with you to pour on the earth – if you are still bleeding – the most common way to collect this is by soaking menstrual pads or underwear in water and saving the soakwater.

If you are not bleeding, we invite you to bring an essence of you to pour on the earth– something with your DNA in it – maybe some hair soaked in water or some yoni juice in water.

We also invite you to bring a gift with you that you would like to give yourself – something that will help you to take care of yourself when you bleed – and we really encourage you to give yourself something special.

In this ceremony we are just focusing on the celebratory aspect of the menarche ceremony as there are children present. We want the children to see women being celebrated for their blood.

We also invite you to bring some flowers for the earth altar (which the children will help to make and could choose) and some celebratory food to share – it might be fun to choose or make something red: strawberries, red velvet cake….but it doesn’t have to be.

The food isn’t meant to be a full meal – something snacky, maybe something sweet, cake is definitely encouraged.

If you don’t have a partner or children you want to bring – we warmly invite you to come and be celebrated.

If you are no longer bleeding, we warmly invite you to come and be celebrated.

BRING:

Yummy Celebratory Food (possibly red?)
